Following the long tradition of classic sportswear, our polo shirts are comfortable, practical and easy to wear almost anywhere. Dress one up for a smarter occasion, or make it the centrepiece of a relaxed weekend outfit.
Types of Fabric
Our men’s polo shirts are crafted from cotton and cotton blends, including classic cotton pique. Cotton is naturally breathable and durable – ideal for long-lasting sportswear and leisurewear.
The Perfect Fit
Choose a size that gives you room to move comfortably, without sizing up too much. As a general rule, the shoulder seams should sit on the edge of your shoulder, not drop onto your upper arm.
Styling Your Polo Shirt
Polo shirts are made for much more than sport. Wear yours with jeans and leather sneakers for a relaxed look, or with smart trousers and a tailored jacket for semi-formal events.
Men’s Polo Shirts FAQs
Should polo shirts be worn tucked in?
- You can wear a polo shirt tucked in or untucked – it depends on the occasion and your personal style. Tucked in, it looks more tailored and suits smart-casual settings. Untucked, it’s more relaxed – wear it with casual jeans or men’s shorts for weekends, sport or informal events. As a guide, slim-fit polos look neater tucked in, while looser styles can be left untucked.
How long should a polo shirt be if worn untucked?
- An untucked polo shirt should finish around the middle to lower part of your hip. The hem should cover your waistband and sit about halfway down the zip of your trousers. This keeps the look neat, and works best with relaxed styles like straight-leg jeans, chinos and relaxed-fit trousers.
What do you wear on top of polo shirts?
- A polo shirt works well on its own, but it’s also easy to layer. For a smart-casual look, add a lightweight sweater or a V-neck jumper. A denim or leather jacket gives it a more contemporary feel, while a blazer or sports coat makes it more formal. In cooler months, wear a quilted vest or a puffer jacket over the top for warmth.
Which buttons should be buttoned up on a polo shirt?
- Our men’s polo shirts have two buttons, so you can wear them with one or both done up. For a relaxed look, fasten the lower button and let the collar sit open. For more formal occasions, fasten both buttons and keep the collar neatly folded.
What is the difference between a polo shirt and a rugby jersey?
- A polo shirt is lighter, usually short-sleeved and made from breathable cotton pique – ideal for warmer days. A rugby jersey has long sleeves, a heavier cotton knit and a sturdier collar for cooler weather. Browse our men’s rugby jerseys.
