Our men’s rugby jerseys
Explore the R.M.Williams range of men’s rugby jerseys, made with comfort and style in mind. The rugby jersey started on the field and moved into everyday wardrobes. Ours come in heritage stripes, bold panels and classic solid colours – from the Heritage rugby and Classic R.M.W. rugby to the Balmain stripe, Kandos, Blyth and Louth rugbys.
Rugby jersey, jumper or shirt?
It’s the same garment by a different name. In Australia you’ll hear rugby jersey, rugby jumper, rugby top and rugby polo – all meaning a long-sleeve, collared cotton top with a heavier knit than a polo shirt.
Types of Fabric
Our men’s rugby jerseys are crafted from cotton and cotton blends. The Heritage rugby uses heavyweight organic cotton jersey with a brushed-cotton twill collar, while the Classic R.M.W. rugby is made from midweight cotton jersey for year-round comfort. Cotton is naturally breathable and durable, and softens with every wear.
The Perfect Fit
Most of our rugby jerseys are a regular fit, with room to move and to layer a t-shirt underneath. As a general rule, the shoulder seams should sit on the edge of your shoulder, with the hem around your hip.
Styling your rugby jersey
Wear yours with casual jeans and a pair of R.M.Williams boots for a classic weekend look. On cooler days, layer it over a t-shirt or under a quilted vest or jacket.
Men’s rugby jerseys FAQs
What is the difference between a rugby jersey and a polo shirt?
- A rugby jersey has long sleeves, a heavier cotton knit and a sturdier collar, made for cooler days. A polo shirt is lighter, usually short-sleeved and made from cotton pique. Browse our men’s polo shirts.
How should a rugby jersey fit?
- The shoulder seams should sit on your shoulder, with enough room through the chest to move comfortably. The hem should sit around your hip, so it looks neat untucked. Check our size guide before you order.
What do you wear with a rugby jersey?
- A rugby jersey pairs naturally with jeans or chinos and boots. For extra warmth, layer it over a t-shirt or under a vest or jacket. Wear the collar down for a neat look, or with the top button undone for a more relaxed one.
How do I care for my rugby jersey?
- Always follow the care label. As a general rule, wash it inside out in cool water, then dry it flat or on a line in the shade to help it keep its shape and colour.
