Premium Australian boot maker R.M.Williams unveils its new retail design concept at Westfield London later this month. The store, which opens on 25th June 2016, is at the forefront of an ambitious global expansion strategy over the next twelve months spearheaded by major shareholder, L Capital Asia.

Westfield London is the first R.M.Williams location in the Northern Hemisphere to feature the brand’s award-winning interior concept, developed in partnership with leading experiential retail design agency, e2.

The store features a contemporary timber shopfront and extended footwear display table with copper inserts, flanked by steel frame units inspired by traditional stockyard fencing as used in the Australian outback. In addition, a unique lighting gantry takes references from industrial woolsheds reflecting the essence and craft of Australia, as well as the R.M.Williams brand story as an evolving and contemporary international brand.

“London is the capital of the world, a city whose innate spirit of creativity, entrepreneurship and adventure shines through changeable weather,” said R.M.Williams CEO, Raju Vuppalapati. “This is the environment in which R.M.Williams thrives, with purpose-built product that lasts through all climates and is for every adventure.”

The new store will present the most comprehensive collection of R.M.Williams products in London, from the iconic Craftsman boots and women’s Adelaide boots through to the contemporary lace-up Rickaby boots and the brand’s collection of hand-plaited belts. A bespoke boot service will be available in-store along with a selection of leather accessories and apparel.

The Westfield London store concept is the first of a series of international openings for R.M.Williams including a New York flagship in Spring Street Soho in September and additional sites across Australia.

R.M.Williams has been selected by Australia’s national airline Qantas to help showcase its new pilot’s uniform.

The uniform, created by esteemed Paris-based Melbourne designer Martin Grant, will be unveiled at a runway show in Sydney and will feature R.M.Williams’ signature Craftsman boots, favoured by Qantas pilots for decades for their comfort and durability.

As part of the show, Qantas pilots will take to the runway in Martin Grant’s new design, complete with a pair of our one-piece-of-leather boots. It is Qantas’s first new pilot uniform for 13 years.

Grant, whose celebrity clientele include Cate Blanchett and Lee Radziwill, selected the boots to finish his designs for a professional and practical offering, and says they’ll bring an additional, unique Australian element of style to the uniform. “Qantas was founded in the Australian outback and, like the airline, R.M.Williams has grown to become a highly regarded contemporary brand that is flying the flag internationally for Australia. We are excited to be working with them,” Grant said.

Qantas Chief Pilot Captain Dick Tobiano said R.M.Williams boots had been tried and tested on long and short-haul flights: “Many of us have been wearing R.M.Williams since our early flight training days,” he said.  “They mould to the feet and the boots are exceptionally comfortable, whether seated in the cockpit, walking around the aircraft and in all kinds of weather conditions.”

R.M.Williams CEO Raju Vuppalapati said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Qantas. We believe there is a wonderful synergy between R.M.Williams and Qantas, with both brands taking renowned Australian quality and service to a global audience. R.M.Williams looks forward to Qantas pilots wearing our iconic Australian-made boots around the world.”

Qantas Wallabies On Sure Footing Thanks To R.M.Williams Partnership

R.M.Williams is pleased to announce that from today, the brand is the Official Bootmaker for the Qantas Wallabies. The four-year partnership extends to 2019, and will see Wallabies players and staff wearing iconic one piece of leather R.M.Williams boots as part of their team uniform. Qantas Australian Mens and Womens Sevens teams and the Australian U20s team will also start to tread their paths in R.M.Williams boots.

As an iconic Australian brand that is closely intertwined with the national identity, R.M.Williams shares many similar values with the Qantas Wallabies. Many of the Qantas Wallabies, such as Ben McCalman and Captain Stephen Moore, have grown up wearing R.M.Williams boots.

ARU General Manager - Commercial John Nicholl said: "It's great to welcome an organisation like R.M.Williams into our family. Like the Wallabies, the R.M.Williams brand encapsulates the Aussie spirit of hard work and determination."

R.M.Williams CEO Raju Vuppalapati commented: "We are delighted to partner with Australian Rugby Union. We look forward to custom fitting each of the team and staff members with our iconic on piece leather Craftsman boots, made in our Adelaide workshop."
